Community details

1.FC Nürnberg believes a football club can unite a city for more than 90 minutes. Around every stadium are streets filled with stories, residents whose roots run deep, and kids with big dreams. Wanting to uplift the people who make Nuremberg the city that it is, the Southern German team is putting its community first. 1.FC Nürnberg works with disabled young people in the local area to help ensure everyone can reap the benefits of sports. Participants often have limited access to physical activities, face socio-economic challenges, and have high rates of health issues like obesity.

About the project

1.FC Nürnberg works with local schools focused on disabled young people to help create equal sporting opportunities. The program provides free physical activities designed to enhance motor skills, boost physical health, and strengthen mental resilience. By fostering teamwork and inclusion, 1.FC Nürnberg aims to instill a lifelong love for exercise while building confidence and social skills. Beyond working directly with disabled young people, 1.FC Nürnberg also engages pedagogical specialists to bring physical activities into schools and creates volunteer opportunities for adidas employees, located at the nearby global headquarters, to contribute to the community.

Playing for Purpose

1.FC Nürnberg’s program stands out for its commitment to removing barriers and creating inclusive sports opportunities for disabled young people. The German club works directly in its city to help bring the joy of sport to everyone in its community and help participants improve their physical and mental well-being, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. Through its targeted efforts, 1.FC Nürnberg exemplifies how sports can unite and uplift a city.
