Community details

Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI) is a not-for-profit NGO founded in 1997 that uses the power of sport to challenge discrimination, promote cultural integration and drive social inclusion throughout Ireland. The NGO focuses on areas facing socio-economic barriers and works with young people from diverse backgrounds, including International Protection Applicants (IPA). Participants experience various challenges, such as racism, xenophobia, gender and religious-based discrimination, limited educational and professional opportunities, violence, and abuse.

About the organization

SARI works across various locations and sectors to address discrimination in Ireland and empower young people to build a more inclusive future. The non-profit brings the power of sport to schools, refugee centers, and local communities across the country. It delivers anti-discrimination workshops, hosts intercultural sporting events, and creates life skill and employability programs to provide equal opportunities for all. Through its widespread and extensive efforts, SARI shows that by bringing people from diverse backgrounds together, multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination can be challenged, and more inclusive communities can be forged.
